People talked about cuts councils have faced from central government since 2010, and how that has affected services residents value.
Whether a council is Labour-run – like Erewash or Amber Valley – or Tory-run, like Derbyshire County Council – government cuts have made it harder for them to deliver important services for people.
To provide greater stability, a Labour government will give councils multi-year funding settlements, as opposed to the one-year settlements they currently get. This would help councils plan better.
