Energy independence is a primary concern of this government. Our energy bills are too reliant on the volatile fossil fuel market and foreign countries that do not have our interests at heart.
I’m very pleased that the government recently announced Great British Energy’s first major project: rolling out solar panels on over 400 schools and NHS sites across England.
Because of our energy dependence, schools, hospitals, and the services we all rely on have been forced to waste money on sky-high energy bills. The Local Power Plan will save thousands of pounds that can be spent on frontline services.
The East Midlands will see fourteen community energy projects including the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, with a projected saving of between £3.3m and £4.3m in energy costs. That money can be used instead to support our doctors and nurses providing excellent health care.
