I am really pleased to hear that Morley primary school has been selected to be a part of the pilot scheme for free school breakfast clubs across England.
This initiative will see our young people benefitting from a nutritious meal before they start learning. I hope that these clubs will be in all primary schools soon.
I know they will be very welcome in Derbyshire because the Conservative-led County Council has increased the cost of school dinners by £1 per day last year, totalling an additional £150 a year for parents.
A 40% increase in costs is simply unaffordable for many parents, especially for those with multiple children in the school system.
The new government’s decision will ease the cost of living for many and support our young people in getting a high quality education.
